Meander — Privacy Policy & Data Deletion
Application: org.isolaforge.meander · Last updated: 5 September 2026
Meander is a walking game developed by Isola Forge. This page explains what data the app stores, how it is used, and how you can have it deleted — including without installing the app.
Who is responsible for this data
Meander is developed by Isola Forge. For any privacy matter, contact isolaforge@gmail.com.
What data we collect
Sign-in happens through Google. Everything below is stored on our server (Supabase). Text you write yourself appears in only a few places, and each of them is marked in the list.
Your account
- The email address of the Google account you sign in with, and the account identifier Google gives us. We never receive or store your Google password — sign-in is handled entirely by Google. Your email address is never shown to other players.
Your profile, as other players see it
- The nickname you chose. This is text you write yourself and is visible to other players.
- Country, inferred from your device settings. This is not precise location.
- Your character appearance, avatar frame and avatar background.
- Your selected title and name styling.
- Your trophies, when each was earned, and the trophy you have chosen to feature.
- Which crew you belong to, and your role in it.
Your game statistics
- Daily step totals — the number of steps per day, never a route or a location.
- Experience points (XP) and reputation (RP): the current totals, and a daily record of them so that weekly and seasonal comparisons can be shown.
- Steps walked and reputation earned per terrain type (forest, lake, mountain and so on).
- The direction you are currently walking, your town hall stage, and the resources you have donated to it.
- The steps you have contributed to your crew.
Social features
- Your friendships and pending friend requests, including who sent each request.
- Milestone echoes sent to and received from friends, and whether you have reacted to one. These are structured event data — they contain no free text.
- Which weekly ranking group you were placed in.
Crews
- If you create or manage a crew: its name, description, welcome message, privacy setting, weekly step goal and accumulated steps. The name, description and welcome message are text you write yourself and are visible to other players.
- A crew activity log: joins, requests, declines and removals, and — for crews you manage — moderator promotions, ownership transfers and setting changes (privacy, join mode, member cap, weekly goal, colour, description and welcome message). Setting changes record only that the change happened and its new value as a code; the description and welcome message texts themselves are not copied into the log. Each entry records the nickname involved at the time it happened, and is removed when that person's account is deleted or when the crew is disbanded.
Safety and moderation
- Players you have blocked.
- Reports you have submitted about other players, and reports other players have submitted about you: the reason chosen from a fixed list, and an optional description you write yourself of up to 280 characters. A note may be added by us when the report is handled.
- Your setting for who may send you friend requests.
- Moderation flags on trophies, if a trophy is found to have been obtained in a way the game does not allow.
Cloud backup of your progress
- A backup of your game progress, so it can be restored when you sign in on a new phone. It contains the game data listed above together with the rest of your progress: inventory, crafted items, discoveries, quests, streak and cosmetic ownership.
-
Stored alongside the backup: the name your phone reports for itself (for example
Pixel 8), shown to you if two phones ever end up holding different progress, and a random identifier for the phone that wrote the backup, used only to tell your own phone apart from a second one. That identifier is not connected to advertising or analytics, is not shared with anyone, and is replaced if you reinstall the app.
We never collect or store location data. The app records only the number of steps measured by your device's own step sensor.
The following never leave your device and are not sent to our server: height, weight, gender, stride length, and the step counter calibration factor.
How the data is used
Solely to run the game: rankings, friend and crew features, delivering milestone echoes between friends, showing trophy progress to other players, restoring your progress when you sign in on a new phone, and handling blocks, reports and moderation. Other players only ever see your nickname and game statistics — never your email address or any other identifying information.
Third parties
- Google — sign-in (OAuth). See Google's privacy policy.
- Supabase — the database and server infrastructure where the data above is stored.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising purposes.
Deleting your account and data
Your data is kept for as long as your account exists. There are two ways to remove it.
1. In the app
Open Settings → Account → Delete account. Deletion happens immediately and cannot be undone.
2. By email, without the app
Send a message to isolaforge@gmail.com with the subject Delete my Meander account.
Send it from the same email address you use to sign in to Meander. That address is the only way we can confirm which account is yours. A request sent from a different address cannot be verified and will not be acted upon.
Requests are completed within 30 days, and usually within a few days.
What gets deleted
Everything listed under What data we collect is permanently removed from our server: your account and email address, nickname, country, daily step history, cosmetic selections, XP and reputation including the daily record of them, per-terrain statistics, trophies and any moderation flags on them, friendships, crew membership, milestone echoes, your blocks and reports, and the cloud backup of your progress. If you are the owner of a crew, that crew is disbanded as part of the deletion.
Nothing is retained on our server afterwards. We keep no backup copy of a deleted account. This includes entries about you in the activity log of a crew you belonged to — those are removed as part of the deletion, not left behind in that crew's history.
Some game data never reaches our server at all — height, weight, gender, stride length and the step counter calibration factor. That data lives only on your phone and is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data. The rest of your progress does have a cloud backup, and that backup is deleted along with your account.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the app evolves. Significant changes will be communicated through the app.
